Author's Notes: Thanks to my fabulous beta, despite being ridiculously busy herself. Title taken from Deep Purple’s Smoke on the Water. Fic written for this prompt: Sam and Dean are playing Guitar Hero. And it's just not fair the Sam's kicking Dean's ass. The situation just made me smile every time I thought of them playing and teasing each other. I imagined this to be somewhere along the later seasons in the bunker, giving the boys some well-deserved down time, but any season can work.

I did also manage to partly include this prompt too: The first time John told Dean he's proud of him. I'm thinking this might have collide with the first time Dean saved Sam's life. The fic is set at an unspecified point once the boys have set up home at the bunker.

Summary: Dean’s never done ‘idle’ and on the few occasions he’s had no choice, he’s been an absolute asshole to live with. Like now. Dean is injured and Sam’s ready for killing him until he discovers the secret to re-connecting with his brother: Guitar Hero.
