Summary: On the last day, he would sit here in the pine-needled sand, just like this, and stare out to the edge of the ocean, waiting to be taken. He'd have a beard and a walking stick carved using the pocket knife Dad gave him for his tenth birthday. A few yards behind him, his lean-to would be set ablaze, as a smoke signal to the underworld, telling them, ”I’m ready, you bastards. Come and get me."
